Organising Your Visit From Ravens' Tales.

I will need to know the following information as you plan your booking:
  • Where you want me to be and when.
  • The type of group or event.
  • How long you want each session to last.
  • The approximate group size.
  • The historical period you require.
  • If you have a preference for particular kinds of stories.
Your Storyteller will need:
  • A performance space large enough to accommodate her audience which will be free from interruptions for the duration of the performance
  • Access to a ladies' cloakroom or other area to complete costume and make-up details.
  • A seat for the storyteller - although she will also move around. This is usually best at floor level, not on a stage, especially for children's & family groups.
  • Listeners' seating arranged to be close to the storyteller - a semicircle is often best if this is possible.
  • Water, squash, tea or coffee! (if possible.)

Library or Event, Full day ---- £130
School, Full day workshops,--- £150
School,Full day just stories, ---£130
Local School, half day,----------£ 75
Children's parties, (2 hours,up to 20 children)----------------------------£120
Daytime or Evening visits for groups, per hour,- ----------------------- £30
Plus mileage fee of 40p per mile, waived for very local bookings by negotiation.
Myths and legends include:
  • The beginnings of the world, the gods and the giants, the World Tree,
  • Tales of Odin, including the gaining of the Runes.
  • Stories mainly related to Thor - the contest in the Hall of Uttgard-haloki, the thefts of Mjollnir, fishing for the Midgard Serpent, Thor the reluctant bride.
  • Tales about Freya and the gaining of, and theft of, her necklace Brisingamen.
  • Loki's exploits, including the building of the walls of Asgard and the birth of Sleipnir, his terrible offspring with the Giantess Angrboda, and the kidnap and rescue of Iduna.

  • The origins of the Titans and the Olympian gods, and their battles.
  • Stories of Theseus, his birth, trials, encounter with the Minotaur, Ariadne and Dionysus, and his downfall.
  • Prometheus and fire, sacrifices and Pandora's jar.
  • The story of Demeter and Persephone, and the origins of the seasons.
  • The dual births of Dionysus, his gift to King Midas and his creation of dolphins.
  • Tales of Midas - infanthood, the Gift of Gold, and the music competition.
  • Tales of the Twins: Apollo and the lyre and his pursuit of Daphne; Artemis and her nymphs - Echo and Narcissus, the hounds of Actæon, Callisto the bear.
  • The beginnings of all things - the Ogdoad, Atum, Ptah and Amun.
  • Amun and his children - the first Pharaoh Osiris, the gaining of magic by Isis, the slaying of Osiris by Set, the recovery of his body by Isis, and the birth and ascendancy of Horus the Younger.
  • The story of Sekhmet and Hathor.
  • The journey of the soul and the weighing of the heart.
  • The lovely rower and her golden lotus.
